Storyline:

In this Russian fantasy sequel to Gogol: The Beginning (2017), Nikolai Gogol, a young man plagued by violent epileptic seizures that reveal glimpses of a shadowy world, returns to confront a new terror. A serial killer, rumored to be a dark horseman, has already claimed the lives of eleven women in a remote village. Tasked with solving the murders, Gogol finds himself trapped in a web of gruesome visions that grow increasingly vivid.

As his investigation deepens, he discovers a horrifying truth: the killer’s next target is his beloved, Liza. Doubting his ability to prevent the inevitable, Gogol crosses paths with Khoma Brut, a seasoned witch hunter. Together, they take refuge in an ancient church and summon the witch, Ulyana, to invoke the malevolent spirit Viy.
